Competing Ideas

Several groups in various places in the country--New England, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, and at least three in Florida--are actively campaigning for pilot or demonstration projects on their shorelines to demonstrate the ability of Undercurrent Stabilizer Systems by Holmberg Technologies, Inc. to reverse erosion and regenerate their beaches.

One would think everyone interested in beach restoration would clamor to have the stabilizers installed as quickly as possible, since their track record of success is flawless in other parts of the country and world.

Those who oppose their use are protecting powerful self-interests: possible loss of prestige and probable loss of a billion-dollar income.

But the citizens of Flagler Beach are not the only people who see the waste and futility of dredging sand to replenish eroded beach sand. And Holmberg Technologies, Inc. is not the only company inventing and promoting new ways to restore shorelines without using this destructive and expensive method. Several ideas were presented in a February, 2006, innovative technology workshop in Tallahassee. None had the long track record of success and other advantages offered by Holmberg's Undercurrent Stabilizer Systems, but they showed the climate of discontent with current methods of shoreline protection.

Please have a look at the various competing ideas, which we have compared and contrasted with our preferred method, Undercurrent Stabilizer Systems.
